Los Angeles is preparing to host the West Coast edition of On Air Fest next week, an event that brings together storytellers, audio creatives, multimedia artists, musicians, industry leaders and listeners for an exploration of immersive sound. The event, beginning with two evenings of exclusive experiences at KCRW on November 1st and 2nd, will culminate in a first-of-its-kind exhibition that aims to push the boundaries of podcasts and storytelling.
The On Air Open House, taking place at dublab from 2pm-8pm on Saturday, November 4th, will allow attendees to wander through site-specific pieces, innovative listening installations, live tapings and performances that showcase the medium like never before. This event, free with RSVP, is set to be a wonderhouse of sound.
Presented by Dolby Atmos, ESPN 30 for 30 Podcasts and Tenderfoot TV, the On Air Open House will feature live foley, the sounds of life in prison with Ear Hustle, UFOs and the intersection of sexuality and faith with Dear Alana and High Strange, and much more. It promises to be a day of immersive soundscapes, storytelling seashells and local tales, along with an open bar.
On Air Fest is the brainchild of work x work, a creative agency that amplifies the world’s leading brands through storytelling, design and experiences. They have, over the years, evolved into the premier cultural event for audio storytellers and inspired listeners, producing a range of cultural programming, from annex events to our residency program, creative collaborations, cultural campaigns and podcasts.
The event will be held in partnership with dublab, a Los Angeles-based, community-supported internet radio station and creative collective dedicated to the growth of positive music, arts, and culture. Since 1999, dublab has been broadcasting freeform radio with an international audience, expanding its programming to include original art exhibits, films, television, events, and community education projects.
On Air Fest is a testament to the evolution of audio storytelling and podcasting. It carves a space for artists and storytellers who are defining this moment in audio. As we look towards the future, it is events like On Air Fest that will shape our understanding of what is possible in the realm of audio entertainment.
